BIOG
Fronted and created by Clive Meaker who takes his productions out as part of a tight 7 piece ensemble, Dr Meaker are one of Bristol's best up and coming bands.
Hailed as the band in waiting to Massive Attack and with comparisons to other artists who have added to the patchwork of classic dance music such as Roni Size, Omni Trio, Portishead, Morcheeba and Breakbeat Era, it's easy to see why Dr Meaker are on the cusp of great success. Indeed they have already achieved feats other bands could only dream of, playing twice at Glastonbury in front of a hungry crowd in 2008 as well as playing to wild crowds at other festivals across the UK. Unsurprisingly they are always asked to return to a venue wherever they play from the legendary Glastonbury Festival right through to the worlds most respected festivals and venues.
Reviewers have been mightily impressed with Dr Meaker's debut album, with Clash Magazine saying
"Equally dance floor sound system as it is chart friendly...a vibrant, promising debut",
"Oozing quirky funk from every corner 4/5"
"Dispenses a refreshing take on the ageing Bristol music scene following the legacy left behind by dance genre darlings, Portishead, Massive Attack and Tricky after their peak in the mid-90's..."A Lesson From The Speaker" is the perfect remedy".
